Just last week, a federal judge in Texas granted an Emergency Motion for Preliminary Injunction that was filed by twenty-one states, to block the new U.S. Department of Labor's overtime rule. This means, for the time being, changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) which would raise the threshold for salary "exemption" to $47,476 per year ($913 per week) are on hold and will not go into effect on December 1, 2016. Because the ruling is temporary, future changes to the FLSA are uncertain. Therefore, we will be watching closely for and will provide updates as we learn of them.
