Course Overview: Healthcare providers and/or employees that transport biomedical waste (or other OPIM) from one location to another must-have Department of Transportation (DOT) training. DOT defines a hazardous material as any item or chemical which, when being transported or moved in commerce, is a risk to public safety or the environment, and is regulated as such under its Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration regulations which includes the Hazardous Materials Regulations. This training promotes the proficiency and understanding of the proper procedures to follow when handling, transporting, and/or shipping biomedical waste or other OPIM.
