Course Overview: Sepsis is a life-threatening medical
emergency caused by the body's extreme response to a local viral, bacterial, or
fungal infection often beginning in a person's lungs, digestive tract, skin, or
urinary tract. Healthcare professionals must be educated and have tools to
recognize and detect the signs of sepsis. Included in this training are several
of these tools, such as the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Bundles, and Quick
Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA).
